With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mr. John Wesley Karodi, Retired Excise Inspector and a devoted member of CSI Shanthi Cathedral, Balmatta, Mangalore. Born on November 15, 1939, Mr. Karodi was a beacon of love, strength, and unwavering faith. He passed away on August 12, 2024, at the age of 84, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, kindness, and service to others.
Mr. Karodi was a man of principles, deeply respected in his professional life as an Excise Inspector. His dedication to his work was matched only by his commitment to his faith and family. As a longstanding member of the CSI Shanthi Cathedral, Mr. Karodi’s life was a testament to his devout Christian faith, guiding others through his actions and words. His presence in the church was one of comfort and guidance, always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear to those in need.
He was the beloved husband of the late Mrs. Stella J. Karodi, with whom he shared a life filled with love, companionship, and mutual respect. Together, they built a family grounded in the values of love, faith, and kindness. Mr. Karodi was the proud father of six children: Mercy and her husband Cyril, Shaila and her husband Joseph, Sabita and her husband Jason, Sylvia and her husband Solomon, Varsha and her husband Bobby, and his late son Shashi Kumar Thomas. He also cherished his role as a grandfather to Michelle and her husband Vikas, Nigel, Rochelle, Rachel, Bradley, Carol, Derek, and Ryan, and as a great-grandfather to Kenrick and Kezia.
Mr. Karodi’s life was one of quiet strength and enduring love. He was a guiding force in the lives of his children and grandchildren, instilling in them the values of hard work, integrity, and faith. His wisdom and gentle demeanor were a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and the countless others whose lives he touched.

The mortal remains of Mr. John Wesley Karodi will be brought to his residence at “Bhaskar Shet Building,” 2nd Floor, Flat No. 24, Alake, Mangalore, on August 14, 2024, at 7:30 a.m. The funeral cortege will leave the residence at 10:30 a.m., proceeding to Gorigudda Cemetery, Mangalore, where he will be laid to rest.
