Veeda Mable Manomani, fondly known as Manomani, was born on the 7th of May, 1943, in the serene town of Mercara Hill, Mangalore. She was a woman of immense strength, grace, and unwavering dedication, who spent 81 meaningful years nurturing her family, serving her community, and spreading love and joy wherever she went. She was married to the late Geofrey Lenhard Johnas, with whom she shared a deep and enduring bond. Together, they built a life full of love, faith, and happiness, raising three wonderful children—Late Livingston Arun Kumar Johnas, Sushanthi Shailaja Samuel, and Late Sudhir Kumar Johnas—who were the center of her world.
Manomani was an active member of the C.S.I Sushanthi Church, Mercara Hill. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her through both joyous and challenging times. She was deeply involved in the church’s activities, especially those organized for senior citizens. Her participation in these events was a testament to her unwavering spirit and her commitment to her community. Manomani was also a proud member of the church choir, where her voice added a melodious harmony to the prayers and hymns. Her love for music was just one of the many ways she expressed her devotion to her faith and her community.
Beyond her spiritual contributions, Manomani was a woman of many talents. She was known for her athletic abilities, particularly in the game of throwball, where she excelled and often led her team to victory. Her enthusiasm for sports was reflective of her vibrant personality and her love for life. Even as she aged, she never lost her competitive spirit or her zest for physical activity, always encouraging others to stay active and healthy.
In her professional life, Manomani was a dedicated employee of Syndicate Bank, where she worked for many years. Her colleagues remember her as a diligent worker, a supportive teammate, and a kind-hearted friend. The news of Manomani’s passing on the 11th of August, 2024, at the age of 81, has left a deep void in the hearts of all who knew her. Her mortal remains will be brought to her residence, “Sushanthi Sadana,” near Sushanthi Church, Mercara Hill, Mangalore, on the 16th of August, 2024. The funeral cortege will depart from her residence at 4:00 PM and proceed to Gorigudda Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest at 4:30 PM.
Manomani was not just a mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law; she was a beacon of light, a source of strength, and a pillar of her community. Her legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a family who adored her and a community that will forever cherish her memory.
