In loving memory of Leeda Karkada, born on September 27, 1944 to the Late Titus Joshua and Late Jane Joshua. She slept in the Lord on August 16, 2023.

She was the third child among seven siblings, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond- Vincent, Mohan, Prema, Joyce, Late Leonard and Late Harold.

She was married to the Late John Albert Karkada and is blessed with four children, Anita/ Late Prakash, Aravind/ Sujyothi, Benita/Santosh and Arun/Reema; and six grandchildren Spandana/ Tanveer, Rahul/ Glennis, Abigail, Angela, Atul and Anshul.

She bodied hope, strength, and grace throughout her life. She illuminated our world, bringing joy and positivity. Her greatest source of happiness was nurturing her children and grandchildren, a role she embraced with unwavering dedication. In the face of challenges, she displayed remarkable resilience and poise. Her heart was pure gold, radiating a generosity that knew no bounds.

We treasured her deeply, just as she treasured her role as a loving mother and grandmother.

Our gratitude for having known and loved her knows no bounds. The love she bestowed upon us and the cherished memories she leaves behind will continue to guide us as we move forward, comforted by the knowledge that her watchful presence will forever be with us.

From 2015 to 2017, he served at the United Basel Mission Jubilee Church in Udupi, where his compassionate nature and genuine concern for others made a lasting impact on the congregation.

In June 2017, a new phase awaited Rev. David as he was transferred to the United Basel Mission Ebenezer Church in Malpe. Embracing this change with grace, he continued to spread the message of love and hope to all who sought solace in the church’s embrace.

Another significant milestone in his journey occurred on April 1, 2020, when he was assigned to the Christha Krupa Church in Manipal. Leading with wisdom and humility, he guided the community through uncertain times, providing spiritual guidance and being a pillar of strength during challenging moments.

Beyond his pastoral duties, Rev. David was a devoted family man. He leaves behind two boys, a testament to the love and care he bestowed upon his own household while also shepherding his extended church family.

His commitment to following God’s path started from an early age, as he was born into a family of clergypersons on April 6, 1951. The name “Devadhar,” meaning “follower of God,” aptly represented his lifelong devotion to the Almighty. His faith journey led him to serve as a deacon at the Church of South India, Mercara Coorg, India, and he pursued academic excellence, earning multiple degrees from esteemed institutions in India and the United States.

Bishop Devadhar’s guiding principle in life was simple yet profound: “Love everybody.” This principle guided his actions and influenced countless lives, as he led sacred pilgrimages abroad and encouraged others to deepen their faith through transformative experiences. His leadership on pilgrimages to The Holy Land and Taize France left an indelible impact on the lives of many, fostering greater understanding, stronger relationships, and a deeper commitment to discipleship.

Before his election as a bishop, Bishop Devadhar served with dedication as the district superintendent for the Ontario District of the then North Central New York Annual Conference for eight years, further exemplifying his lifelong commitment to the Church and its mission.
